It’s another day for you to learn the ropes of the pack as your Fullblood mentor shows you around the borders of your pack’s territory. Your next destination is located at the center of Boulder Woods, where an enormous lake with several rivers splintering off lies. The massive body of still water has earned the name of Hydra Lake, with its vast amount of flowing offshoots that provide clean water to all who live within its reaches.
Trudging through the humid air, avoiding the thorn bushes that dot the forested landscape, your mentor stops near the edge of the woods. You and your Newblood packmates halt your advance as all together you gaze over the clearing at a massive stretch of glowing blue aqua glittering in the purple twilight as the setting sun’s light bounces off its tepid waters.
You’re told that the lake gets its strange hue from bioluminscent leeches sitting at the bottom of the lake. One of the reasons your mentor has brought you and your packmates here is to retrieve some of those leeches for the shaman back at camp. The parasites prove useful for bloodletting, which proves to be a useful cure for snake venom and many harmful diseases.
Scrambling down the steep hill filled with protruding tree roots and jutting rocks, you and your packmates hop into the warm waters, swimming to the bottom of the lake to retrieve as many leeches as your paws can carry. With a pawful of wriggling worms, you kick your back limbs until you float back to the surface, where you wash up along the muddy shore.
Your mentor picks up each leech and places it into a pouch made of animal skin strapped around their neck. As your packmates continue to emerge onto he shore, you catch a whiff of danger near your party.
It doesn’t take long for you to figure out where the scent is coming from.
At the opposite end of the lake is another hunting party of worven. It appears that another pack had the same idea of teaching their Newbloods how to fish leeches out of Hydra Lake. Your mentor hesitates for a second, but after assessing the situation, motions for you and your packmates to get behind it in case you all have to run.
Tension fills the air as the rival party approaches. Your mentor growls at the other Fullbood as it draws closer.
[Choice 1] (Agility 3 or Vigor 3) As the enemy party nears, you and your packmates decide to leap into action along with your mentor. The battle is bloody, but no one is killed during the scuffle. You successfully routed the rival hunting party with superior movement and prowess. However, your wounds begin to take their toll as you make your way up the hill back toward camp (Durability 2 or use an item for soothing pain to avoid a loss of -1 Durability). With the help of your mentor, along with your packmates, you all make it up the hill, returning to the cover of the overhanging trees. (Gain +10 Growth and Gain +10 Reputation. If you do not have Durability 2 or an item to soothe pain, you lose -1 Durability due to the injuries suffered during the skirmish).
[Choice 2] (Survival 3 or give up an item as an offering) Using your quick wit, you jog ahead of your mentor to stand in front of the rival Fullblood. By relaxing your body’s muscles, you show no intention of harming them or their pups. The enemy Fullblood is taken aback and laughs at your attempt at diplomacy. However, its Newblood pups are intrigued by your calm nature. They huddle around you to sniff your scent, determining you’re not a threat. After some time passes, your party and theirs begin to play-fight rather than get into a brutal brawl. As the sun sets over the horizon, the Fullblooded mentors representing both parties have to pull you all away from the fun to return to your respective camps. You wag your tail goodbye as you and your packmates climb over the ledge of the hill back into Boulder Woods. (Gain +10 Growth and Gain +5 Reputation).
[Choice 3] (Unsuccessful Test) Your mentor gives a quick bark, commanding you and your packmates to run. Following orders, you scramble back into the forest with your mentor hot on your tail. The rival hunting party pursues for a minute but eventually gives up, as you lose sight of them in the distance. (Gain +5 Growth).
After a long day of traveling, your hunting party returns to camp for you to rest for the night.
